Stanislaus meets Chico State for second time in 5 days

Usually after a loss, the Cal State Stanislaus women’s basketball team would have plenty of time to let the misery of defeat sink in with other league games to worry about. Not this time.

The Warriors are already thinking revenge.

Stanislaus will get another shot at Chico State today at Fitzpartick Arena after losing to the Wildcats on the road just five days earlier. Tipoff is 2 p.m. On Tuesday, No. 21 Chico State won 74-59 after having four players finish in double digits, with Pauline Ferrall leading the Wildcats with 15 points. Ferrall was part of a team that shot nearly 50 percent in the first half, as teammates Natasha Smith and Analise Riezebos each had 15 points.

They overcame a good night from Stanislaus guard Christin Gowan, who had 17 points with three 3-pointers.

Chico State enters today’s game with a 3-0 record, while Stanislaus is 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

The Wildcats have won seven of the last eight meetings with the Warriors, whose only win was on Jan. 19.
