With securing the program’s best-ever start, the Cal State Stanislaus women’s soccer team has turned that run into a No. 14 ranking in the latest NSCAA/HendricksCars.com Top 25 poll. The position is the highest the Warriors have ever been.In 2008, the Warriors were ranked No. 24 and the 2005 team that finished 15-4-2 peaked at No. 16.
Cal State Stanislaus is also ranked No. 2 in the West Region, behind Seattle Pacific, by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.This time, the Warriors are the only California team that is nationally ranked.
The Warriors are off to a 7-1 start (6-1 against Division II opponents) and are in first place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association North Division with a 5-1 record.
"Being ranked No. 14 is wonderful recognition for our university, program and our student-athletes," CSUS head coach Gabriel Bolton said. "We are very proud of what we have accomplished thus far this season and our formula for success remains the same. We work hard, we take one day at a time, and we enjoy the journey we are on as a team."
Led by CCAA scoring leader Karenee Demery and the stellar defense, the Warriors host South Division powers Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Cal State L.A. is currently fifth in the region and was No. 7 in the nation just two weeks ago.
