The first regular season national poll has been released by the NSCAA and the Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer team made a huge jump.
After going, 2-0 and outscoring opponents 6-0, the CCAA defending champion Warriors are ranked No. 13 in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II national poll. The Warriors are also No. 2 in the West behind only Chico State, which is No. 3 nationally.
The Warriors made the huge move from No. 25 in the preseason to No. 13 for the second biggest leap of the week. Saint Leo went from No. 23 to No. 8.
The No. 13 ranking equals the program's best. Stanislaus was also listed at No. 13 last season, on Sept. 20, 2011, after starting the season 4-0-2.
Other CCAA teams ranked in this week's poll include No. 3 Chico State, No. 17 Sonoma State and No. 25 UC San Diego.
Cal State Stanislaus opens CCAA play this weekend when it hosts Cal State L.A. (No. 5 in the West) and Cal State Dominguez Hills (No. 10 in West). Both opponents are 1-0-1.
