Bulldog wrestling breezes through Cougars in road win

Turlock High varsity wrestling is still undefeated in the Central California Conference heading into their bye week with a 3-0 record after defeating Golden Valley High on Wednesday night, 59-16.

“We are taking it one match at a time and El Capitan is next after our bye,” said Turlock head coach Mike Contreras. “We are in position to finish the season where we want to be. Now it is about staying focused and working hard to achieve our goal of a CCC title and hopefully more at team duals.”

GV only wrestled seven matches against Turlock.

The Bulldogs of Turlock looked strong in the matches that did happen.

Turlock’s Gus Bonilla (106), Joe Silva (145) and Cesar Rocha won by fall.

Manny Conde (132) won a 7-4 decision and Diego Cornejo (152) won his after a 5-1 final. Mike Jeffus (HWY) won by technical, 22-7.
