The Denair High boys soccer team’s season came to an end Tuesday night as the Coyotes fell in the opening round of the CIF NorCal Regional Soccer Championship, losing to Wheatland High 1-0.

The Coyotes entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed in the Division V bracket, fresh off their first-ever section title victory over Gustine just over a week ago. The section success came after Denair finished as the Southern League champions, following a 9-5 finish in league play and 16-2-5 overall record.

Denair excelled this season behind a stellar defense, which only allowed more than one goal once this season. This year marked the first time the Coyotes have ever advanced to the playoffs and despite Tuesday’s loss, they have plenty to show for their successful year — most importantly, a blue banner.
