Local prep teams set for playoff games

The Sac-Joaquin Section released its winter sports playoff brackets this weekend, with local schools earning a handful of playoff berths.

In Division I basketball, both Turlock's and Pitman’s boys and girls teams will take part in play-in games.

On Monday, the 15th-seeded Turlock girls will entertain No. 18 McNair, while No. 19 Pitman will visit No. 14 Laguna Creek.

The Bulldogs boys team, who placed third in the Central California Athletic League and drew the No. 18 seed, will travel to take on No. 15 Rocklin. The Pride, second place in the CCAL, while host No. 17 Pleasant Grove.

All four games tip off at 7p.m.

In Division VI, Turlock Christian’s boys, who drew the No. 2 seed in an eight-team bracket, earned a first-round bye and will host the winner of No. 10 Trinity Prep vs. No. 7 Elliot Christian on Feb. 17.

Soccer — Turlock’s girls soccer team was given the sixth seed in the Division I field and will take on No. 11 Pleasant Grove at Joe Debely Field on Monday at 6 p.m. Meanwhile, No. 12 Pitman will travel to Sacramento to take on No. 5 Inderkum. 

The Hilmar girls earned the No. 3 seed and will host No. 6 Delhi in Division V.

On the boys side, Pitman earned the No. 7 seed and a home game against No. 10 Davis-Yolo on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

Denair was given the top seed in Division VI and while play host Tuesday to No. 8 Millennium in a 6 p.m. contest.
