Three local runners competed at the cross country Sections meet at Willow Hill Reservoir in Folsom on Saturday, with Pitman’s Isaac Gonzalez bringing home the best time out of the three at 17:47, earning 45th place in Division-II.

“Isaac has a work ethic that took him as far as it did. He competed against very strong runners at Sections and definitely held his own,” said Pitman head coach Sara Smith.

In Division I boys, Turlock High’s Rex Doo finished with a time of 18:40 and Javier Lara clocked 18:50, topping out in 67th and 71st, respectively.

“This is a very tough division; these are the big dogs and we had good representation being a flat land program in a very hilly course,” Turlock’s head coach JoAnn Davison said. “If you make it here ,you’re legitimate and it is hard to compete in a course that you are not accustomed to.

“These kids are pedal to the metal and it is intense. I couldn’t ask any better work from Javier and Rex.”

The frosh/soph girls from Pitman placed fifth in Division II, while Turlock’s girls placed fifth in the Division I section rankings.

“We are now looking forward to next season,” Smith said.
