After the softball programs of Turlock, Denair, Hilmar and Hughson each appeared in the postseason this year, it comes as no surprise that players from each team, as well as from Pitman, have been named all-league honorees.
In the Central California Athletic League, Turlock’s Cadee Campbell took home the title of Offensive Player of the Year. Over the 27 games of her senior season, Campbell batted .533 (46-for-99) with a .955 slugging percentage and a whopping 1.496 OPS thanks to 21 extra-base hits, including seven home runs. She drove in 29 runs. On the basepaths, she stole 27 bases and came around to score 41 runs.
Hilmar’s Camryn Mattos took home the same honor over in the Trans-Valley League, though she shares it with Ripon's Izabelle Spurzem. Mattos, a senior, hit .490 (25-for-51) with a 1.234 OPS over 15 games, tagging nine doubles and a home run and driving in 15. She also stole five bases and scored 16 times.
Teammate Destiny Denys also shared hardware, earning Co-Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year alongside Orestimba’s Sophia Machado. Denys, who started in the Yellowjackets outfield for all four years, had a perfect fielding percentage in 11 total chances.
Hughson’s Kylie Tanney shared the TVL Pitcher of the Year honor with Ripon’s Angelina Martinez. Tangney, a sophomore, sported an 8-3 record and a 1.69 ERA as she faced 417 batters in 95 1/3 innings over 18 appearances. Opposing batters achieved just a .196 average against her, as she punched out 169 hitters while surrendering 75 hits and 32 walks. Of the 53 runs scored against her, only 23 were earned.
In the Southern Athletic League, the Denair trio of Makayla Dayton (P), Havyn Boucher (SS) and Braelyn Marroquin (3B) were named All-League, with Kenzie Prine (1B, P) tabbed as an honorable mention.
Landing on the All-CCAL First Team were Keanna Haro and Kaylee Fuller of Pitman and Audrey Bailey of Turlock. Second Team players included Pitman’s Ivy Butler and Turlock’s Abby Maxwell, Karley Wool and Ayla Lacerda. Meanwhile, Turlock’s Jaysee Rubio and Pitman’s Shelby Wood were honorable mentions.
Named All-League in the TVL were the Hughson quartet of Emma Carne, Grace Leedom, Allison Morning and Presley Wells, as well as Hilmar’s Sophie Stivers. Fellow Yellowjacket standouts Maribel Moreno and Karley Segura joined Hughson’s Maddie Collins, Summer Leshko and Payton Moring as honorable mentions.
