The Pitman High girls track and field team pulled off a stunner on Friday, winning the Stanislaus County Meet at Modesto Junior College over Oakdale High with several top two finishes.
Hailey Stroud and Kelsee Derr finished 1-2 in the 100-meter dash, so did Erica Sickert and Devyn Prather in the shot put. But Derr wasn’t done, as she also won the 100-meter hurdles.
To top it off, the Pride captured the 4x-100-meter relay title, as Caitlin O’Connell and Prather took a 2-3 finish in the high jump.
On the boys’ side, Markus Sanders is now leading the Section in the discus with a mark of 173 feet, 9 inch, also enough for sixth in the state. Daniel Washington took first in the 100 meters and helped the Pride to a fourth-place finish.
