Turlock High's volleyball team bounced back from last week's straight-set loss to Hilmar High with a straight-set victory of its own in Monday's Central California Conference home opener against Golden Valley High.

The Bulldogs (1-0 CCC) and Cougars (0-1 CCC) kept it close through all three matches as the Turlock defense contended with the size and power of Golden Valley's Belen Castillo and its offense— led by Victoria Larsen, Jadyn Tubbs, and Emily Romo— attacked from all over the court. Turlock won each match by five point or less, 25-20, 25-21, 25-21.

Larsen again led Turlock with 13 kills while Tubbs recorded two blocks and Romo notched eight digs. Julia Handy was also busy on the court with 32 assists.

On the other side of the net, Castillo and Camille Flores proved to be formidable up front with Castillo finishing with 19 kills and three blocks and Flores adding 21 assists.

The Bulldogs followed Monday's victory with home match against Lincoln High on Tuesday where they took down the Trojans 3-1 (25-20, 25-14, 18-25, and 25-19). Turlock will continue its league season today with a game at Buhach Colony.
