Turlock High wrestling improved to 3-0 in the Central California Conference this week with dual wins over Merced High in Tuesday and Buhach Colony High on Wednesday. The Bulldogs defeated the Bears by winning 10 of the night’s 14 matches and put down the Thunder by winning 12 of 15 matches.

Wednesday’s victory over the Thunder marks Turlock’s seventh consecutive dual win this season

Turlock’s conference victories come only days after it claimed the team title at the Mid Cals in Gilroy, where they edged Paso Robles High by one point. Competing against a field of over 65 teams, the Bulldogs medaled seven wrestlers and advanced five to the finals. Isaac Bertalotto earned gold at 134 pounds while Jason Valdovinos (113), Rafael Herrera (126), Albino Orozco (160), and Ricky Flores (220) placed second, Ricardo Garcia (HVY) placed 4th, and Brady Egleston (106) placed 5th.

Turlock will not participate in today’s Rumble in the Jungle at Pitman High due to a number of its wrestlers nearing the 40 match season limit. The Bulldogs will take on Golden Valley High on Tuesday in a match with significant bearing on the CCC championship hunt.
