Turlock High’s boys golf team put the cherry on top of their stellar 2012 campaign with a first place finish at the Central California Conference Tournament on Monday. The Bulldogs finished the day with a score of 419, a full 28 strokes ahead of second place Golden Valley High, solidifying their position as outright CCC champions.

“I’m pretty happy with the performance. We shot better than we did at the mid-season tournament,” Turlock’s head coach Jason Boswell said. “Now all I can ask for is for us to continue to improve.”

Monday’s victory capped an undefeated season which saw the Bulldogs claim the top spot in both conference tournaments. Turlock must now prepare for Monday’s Divisional Tournament at Dry Creek Ranch in Galt where they will face familiar opponents such as Golden Valley, as well as stiff competition from schools like St. Mary’s High.

“They’re playing pretty confident right now so hopefully we’ll put together some good rounds,” Boswell said. “We’re confident enough in what we’ve done in league to give ourselves a good chance.”

The Divisional Tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday. After 18 holes the top three teams will advance to the Masters Tournament as well as the best six individual golfers from the losing teams.
