Turlocks Lima to play in tennis finals

Turlock High’s Natalia Lima will battle for the Central California Conference singles title Thursday, when she faces Merced High’s Charlotte Sofranek in the tournament finals at the Millennium Sports Club in Merced. Lima defeated Turlock teammate Jill Temple 6-0, 6-0 in Tuesday’s semifinals to get to this point.

The singles finals will be held Thursday at 11 a.m.

Lima also topped Atwater High’s Alora Muro 6-1, 6-1 in the first round, Pitman High’s Britney Leon in quarterfinals and Temple in the semis. Lima’s toughest match was against Leon, who only fell after three sets, 7-5, 0-6, 6-4.

Also on Thursday is the CCC doubles tournament, which will start at 9 a.m. at the Millennium Sports Club.
