The Pitman Pride was able to control the tempo of Friday's game from the start after hosting Deer Valley at Patterson High in what became a dominant game defensively for the Pride that ended 27-14.

Pitman's first score was on a blocked punt for a touchdown in the first quarter.

DV was shutout for 45 minutes of the game as Pitman's offense struggled to put up points early on, but the defense was as dominant as they have been all year, especially coming off a game where they allowed just six points all game to Napa.

Safety Brendan Patterson had an interception once again for the Pride.

Devan Bass recovered, then returned a fumble for a touchdown and also ran in one as well. He also came down with an interception.

Quarterback Jacob Perez of Pitman also ran in a three yard score to extend the lead to 27-0 in the opening minutes of the fourth.

DV scored twice in the final three minutes to put up their only points of the game.

Pitman's next game will be against Merced at Golden Valley High at 7 p.m. Friday.
