Last Comic Standing makes return visit to Turlock
last comic

Spoiler alert: If you have not watched the finale of “Last Comic Standing” and don’t want the winner revealed to you, stop reading now.

The laughs are ready to return to Turlock Community Theatre when the final four finalists and winner of “Last Comic Standing” roll into town on Monday.

The line-up for the show will include finalists Ian Bagg, Dominique, Andy Erickson, Michael Palscak, and Clayton English, the winner of the $250,000 prize package and a development deal with NBC.

Season nine of the Emmy-nominated show saw a shorter season, but with more focus on the actual comedy and less mentoring and antics. The season opened with invitation only auditions that resulted in 100 comics vying for one of the 40 spots. From there the comics performed their stand-up routines and the judges narrowed the field to the top 10, and those 10 competed in head-to head challenges for a spot as the final five.

This is the second year the “Last Comic Standing” tour will be making a stop in Turlock, with last year’s show featuring Rocky LaPorte, Lachlan Patterson, Nikki Carr, Rod Man and Joe Machi.

“First and foremost, I think people like to laugh,” said TCT Managing Director Kit Casey. “This show was a hit for us last year.  It was a sellout down to the last seat.  We are always concerned about bringing back artists too soon who have performed here in  the past, but with this show that does not really apply as it is a whole new set of comics that will be performing.”

Tickets for Monday’s show are still available and range in price from $35 to $49. The show is set for 7:30 p.m. Monday and is meant for a mature audience. For tickets visit turlocktheatre.org or call the box office at 668-1169.
