The hit Broadway play “Peter and the Starcatcher” will be showing at Playhouse Merced starting Friday.

“Peter and the Starcatcher” is a prequel to Peter Pan that is described as ‘the Neverland you never knew.’  This wildly theatrical production tells the story of how a young orphan became Peter Pan, and features a cast of twelve playing a variety of characters, including mermaids, pirates, and even the occasional Mollusk.

“Peter and Starcatcher” is based on a series of best-selling novels by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, and the stage adaptation by Rick Elice, with music by Wayne Barker. It won multiple Tony Awards during its Broadway run.  Playhouse Merced’s production will feature several talented local performers, including Abbie Roe as Molly, James McIntyre as Peter, and Bryan Hurd as Black Stache.

“Told with outrageous humor and wit, this is certain to be one of the most enjoyable shows of Playhouse Merced’s current season,” said Playhouse spokesperson Shawn Overton.

This production of “Peter and the Starcatcher” is intended for all audiences, and will be playing from through April 2.  Tickets range from $15 to $22, with $10 tickets available for children and students with a valid student I.D.  For tickets or information, contact the Playhouse Merced Box Office at (209) 725-8587 or go to playhousemerced.com.
