A burglary suspect was caught by Turlock police officers early Tuesday morning after being spotted on a store rooftop via video surveillance.

Around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday the Turlock Police Department was contacted by the owner of La Perla Tapita at 710 Lander Avenue. The owner stated he was viewing a live feed of his surveillance camera and could see a man sneaking around on the roof of the grocery store.

Officers responded to the area and set up a perimeter around the store, said Turlock Police Sgt. Stephen Webb.

The suspect, later identified as Gabriel Angeles, 25, was taken into custody once he climbed down from the roof, Webb said.

An investigation revealed Angeles was likely responsible for an earlier burglary at the store, Webb said.

Angeles was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on a charge of burglary. He is being held in custody in lieu of a $20,000 bail.
