A person suspicious about a car without license plates made a call to the Turlock Police Department that led to the arrest of a couple for drug possession and the seizure of a shotgun.
Shortly before 10 a.m. Monday the police received a report of a car parked at the Motel 6 at 250 S. Walnut Road unloading property. Because the vehicle did not have a license plate and a burglary had been reported the previous day, the caller deemed it suspicious and reported it to the police.
Officers arrived and make contact with Gary Bends, 35, and Marissa Zabala, 25. Bends is found in possession of a shotgun, as well as methamphetamine, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis. He was arrested for the drug offense and being a felon in possession of a weapon. Zabala also was found in possession of methamphetamine and was issued a citation and released.
