Delhi man killed in ATV accident
emergency

A man driving an all terrain vehicle crashed into the wall of a market in an unincorporated area of Turlock, resulting in fatal injuries, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The deceased was identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner's Office as Randy Lovitt, 41, of Delhi.

The accident happened around 3:51 p.m. Monday at a store at South First and H streets in an unincorporated area of Turlock.

According to the CHP, Lovitt had been driving a 1986 Honda 3-wheeler ATV northbound on South First Street.

Lovitt was traveling at a high rate of speed when the right tire and rim suddenly came off, causing him to lose control of the ATV.

The ATV crashed into the wall of a market. Lovitt had not been wearing a Department of Transportation approved helmet said CHP spokesman Officer Tom Olsen.

He sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Doctors Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

The CHP investigation has not yet determined if drugs and/or alcohol were factors in the collision.

The investigation remains ongoing.
