A milker working at a Hilmar dairy was robbed and beaten by an armed assailant early Sunday morning, the Merced County Sheriff’s Department reported.

The victim did not sustain serious injuries during the ordeal, but he was robbed of his wallet and personal items.

The robbery was reported shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday at a dairy in the area of W. Clausen Road and N. Golf Link Road.

The victim told the sheriff’s deputies he was performing his milking duties when several men entered the barn and started beating him. He told the deputies they demanded he hand over his money, and at least one of the suspects was armed with a gun.

The victim did report a white Honda Accord with three male occupants had been caught trespassing on the property on Saturday.
