A Turlock man on parole for robbery was caught in a stolen vehicle by the Stanislaus County Auto Theft Taskforce.

The suspect, Dakota Cushing, 26, of Turlock was apprehended on June 20 after StanCATT agents spotted him driving a 2017 Nissan Titan that had been reported stolen out of Turlock.

The agents first located Cushing and the vehicle in the area of Countryside Drive and Fulkerth Road. They followed him as he got on Highway 99 and proceeded north to Modesto, where he eventually got off the freeway and drove to a motel in the 1500 block of McHenry Avenue.

StanCATT agents, with the assistance of California Highway Patrol K9 Pakito, took Cushing into custody at the motel and recovered the stolen vehicle. At the time of his arrest, Cushing was on parole for a robbery.

Cushing was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on charges of auto theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, driving on a suspended license, and violating parole.
