A traffic dust up Thursday afternoon led to the arrest of a 20-year-old man on weapon charges after he allegedly brandished a gun at another motorist.

The incident began around 1:15 p.m. Thursday in the area of E. Canal Drive and N. Palm Street when one motorist cut off another motorist, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

The driver who had been cut off drove passed the offending motorist and honked the horn, which is when an occupant in the car brandished a gun at the driver in response, Lewis said.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle in the area of Mitchell and Starr avenues. They were given permission to search the vehicle and found a loaded handgun inside of it, Lewis said.

One of the occupants, later identified as Ismael Arteaga, was positively identified as the man with the gun. He was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm.
