Man killed by train near Denair

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office is looking for the family of a man who was struck and killed by a train Thursday night in Denair.

The man has been identified as Hasinto Bautista, 59. According to the coroner’s office he was a transient who also went by the name of Jacinto Perez.

The man was struck by a freight train around 11 p.m. Thursday on the railroad tracks that run parallel to Santa Fe Avenue, south of N. Vincent Road.

Bautista was wrapped in a blanket and sitting on the tracks when he was struck by the train. The train engineer told authorities the man was slumped over and did not respond when the horn was blown. He died at the scene.

Anyone with information about Bautista’s family is asked to contact the coroner’s office at 567-4500.
