A man was confronted by two men known to him, who proceeded to beat him with a crowbar and then steal his backpack, according to the Turlock Police Department.

The robbery was reported at 12:04 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of S. Soderquist Road.

The victim told the police he was confronted by two men he identified as Terry Sump and Nicholas White. He stated Sump struck him with a crowbar while White punched him, said Turlock Police Sgt. Stephen Webb.

The two men pulled a backpack from the victim and fled the area.

Officers located them shortly after the assault and arrested Sump on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and robbery. White was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
