Police find marijuana in car left running at crash site

Turlock Police officers were called out to a report of shots fired Saturday night and found an abandoned Lexus with a large amount of marijuana left behind.

Just after 11 p.m. Saturday officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Locust Street for a call stating shots had been fired and there had been a vehicle collision, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Parmley.

Upon arrival officers located a black Lexus that had collided into a parked vehicle and all the occupants had fled.

“The Lexus was still running with the rear wheels spinning,” Parmley said.

Witness statements and evidence at the scene indicated that someone had fired several rounds from the front area of a nearby residence towards the street where the Lexus was driving.

There have not been any gunshot victims identified, Parmley said.

A large amount of marijuana and other items found in the Lexus led officers to believe the occupants were involved in selling narcotics.

The investigation is ongoing.
