The Turlock Police Department is investigating a carjacking that occurred in the early hours of Monday.

The male victim was assaulted, but did not sustain any serious injuries.

The victim told officers he was stopped at the intersection of N. Golden State Boulevard and Tuolumne Road around 1:45 a.m. Monday when his car door was suddenly yanked open.

The suspect punched the victim in the stomach and then pulled him out of the vehicle, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Steve Rodrigues.

The suspect drove off in the victim’s vehicle headed northbound on Golden State Boulevard.

Rodrigues said the car was found in the vicinity of the carjacking.

The only description of the suspect was that he was a white male adult about six feet tall.
