The Turlock Police Department has arrested one woman and is searching for another suspect in a reported kidnapping and carjacking.

The incident was reported to the police department at 6:03 p.m. Oct. 1. Officers were dispatched to a motel in the 1100 block of N. Golden State Boulevard.

The male victim told officers a man forced his way into his motel room, armed with a handgun. The suspect assaulted the man and took some of his personal property, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Parmley.

The suspect then forced the victim to drive him to an ATM — using the victim’s vehicle — and get money from his account.

“The victim attempted to get the money for the suspect but was not successful,” Parmley said.

The suspect then forced the victim out of his vehicle and drove off leaving the victim stranded.

The victim sustained a non-life threatening injury during the assault.

The suspect was with a woman, later identified as Layla Arnold, 31, of Turlock. She was later located and taken into custody after being positively identified by the victim.

Arnold was located in the 300 block of W. Hawkeye Avenue.

“Items taken from the victim’s motel room were located in a vehicle associated with Arnold,” Parmley said.

Arnold was booked into Stanislaus County Jail on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of stolen property.

The identity of the male suspect is not being released at this time.
