A suspected thief was apprehended Sunday night after a witness reported seeing him being chased by the robbery victim.

The suspect has been identified as Christopher Kitavong, 27. He is suspected of taking personal items from an employee at Teriyaki Express at 330 N. Golden State Blvd. The employee was chasing Kitavong down the road when an individual spotted them and called the Turlock Police Department.

The suspect was making his escape in a vehicle when he was spotted by police officers. He initially was bringing the vehicle to a stop, but changed his mind and sped off.

The pursuit for Kitavong was short-lived. A few minutes after the chase began it came to an end because Kitavong had gotten the car stuck in a newly plowed field on N. Front Street.

The vehicle Kitavong was driving came back as stolen out of Ceres. Officers found the stolen property from the restaurant in the car, according to the police report.

Kitavong was taken into custody and charged with robbery, possession of stolen property, and felony evading.
