Search for shooting suspect continues

The teenager identified as the prime suspect responsible for shooting two people remains on the loose.

The Turlock Police Department continues to search for Manuel Maldonado Jr., 19, of Turlock. Maldonado is wanted for the attempted murder of a 26-year-old man and a male teenager. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Both victims were shot outside a home in the 600 block of Chestnut Street on the morning of Oct. 22.

The gunshot wounds were to their lowers extremities and both victims are recovering from their injuries, according to the police department.

Investigators are looking into the possibility the shooting was gang-related.

Anyone with any information regarding Maldonado’s whereabouts is asked to contact TPD Detective Ellis at 664-7329 during business hours or TPD Communications Center, 24 hours a day, at 668-1200.

Callers can leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 521-4636 and may be eligible for a cash reward.
