The Turlock Police Association, Widows and Orphans Foundation awarded a $1,500 college scholarship Wednesday to a Beyer high School senior.

The scholarship was presented to Morgan Harden, the daughter of Lynda Harden and the late Darrell Harden.

Darrell Harden was a police officer with the City of Turlock for 17 years, working in the Traffic Division, Investigations and Patrol Division. He was also a negotiator for the Critical Response Team and a Field Training Officer. In 2000, still working for the Turlock Police Department, Darrell lost his battle with cancer. At the time, Darrell Harden’s two daughters were eight and six-years-old.

Darrell Harden’s oldest daughter, Courtney, was given a scholarship in 2010 and has been attending California State University, Stanislaus.

Since 1951, the Turlock Police Association, Widows and Orphans Foundation, has been actively serving the families of police department employees.
