A recent shooting on Angelus Street that injured one woman has led to the arrest of a Delhi man, the Turlock Police Department reported.

Around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Turlock Police officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Angelus Street for reports of a suspicious person attempting to force entry into a residence while yelling profanities.

While officers were responding, dispatch received updated information that the suspect was armed and had fired a gun. Multiple callers then reported hearing gunshots.

Responding officers arrived quickly and located an adult female suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Her injuries were determined to be non-life threatening, and she was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers also attempted to stop a vehicle fleeing the area, believed to be involved in the incident, but lost sight of it during the pursuit. Witnesses at the scene identified the suspect as 25-year-old Eric Martinez of Delhi. Investigators confirmed that the suspect and victim were known to each other.

Detectives, along with the Turlock Police Department SWAT Team, executed a search warrant at Martinez’s residence in Delhi and collected evidence related to the case.

Martinez voluntarily turned himself in at the Turlock Public Safety Facility on Thursday. He was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on the following charges: Two counts of attempted murder; child endangerment; felon in possession of a firearm; felon in possession of ammunition; and evading a peace officer.
