Three Turlock men are facing criminal charges after attempting to kidnap a Sausalito woman at gunpoint.

Two of the men, David Wasylina, 59, and Zackary Wasylina, 34, are the victim's father and brother, respectively and the third suspect, Partner Hooten, 46, is the woman's ex-boyfriend.

The kidnapping was thwarted by an individual who shot at the three men, causing them to abandon their plans and flee. They were apprehended a short time later by the Sausalito Police Department.

The incident happened shortly before midnight on Monday in the 500 block of Easterby Street in Sausalito. Multiple individuals contacted the police department reporting the sound of a gunshot and hearing a man yelling “get in the car.”

Officers responded to the scene and witnessed a Ford sedan driving away from the area at a high rate of speed, said Sausalito Police spokesperson Lt. Stacie Gregory. A traffic stop was conducted and it was soon determined that the three occupants — Hooten and both Wasylina men — had been involved in the incident and were detained as the investigation progressed.

According to the police department, Zackary Wasylina contacted the victim at her front door and asked her to come out to talk to her father David Wasylina. The victim exited her residence and was immediately confronted by an armed Hooten.

"Hooten held the victim against her will, forcefully moved her approximately 100 feet towards the suspect vehicle and attempted to force her into the vehicle," Gregory stated in a news release. "During the struggle Hooten was waving a firearm in the air stating that he was going to kill himself and the victim."

A male resident in the same residence heard the commotion and came to the front of the house with his own firearm. He saw the victim being forced into the vehicle and fired a round into the ground in an attempt to stop the potential kidnapping, Gregory said.

The gunshot caused Hooten to release the victim, and all three suspects fled the scene in the suspect vehicle.

No one was injured during this incident.

All three suspects were booked into the Marin County Jail. Hooten was booked for kidnapping, false imprisonment, felon in possession of a firearm, conspiracy to commit a crime and possession of a controlled substance. David Wasylina was booked for conspiracy to commit a crime and an outstanding $50,000 warrant out of Stanislaus County. Zackary Wasylina was booked for possession of a loaded firearm and conspiracy to commit a crime. The Sausalito Police Department is still investigating this incident, which could result in more charges being filed. Bail was set at $100,000 for all three suspects.
