A rash of destruction continues to plague Turlock as the police department reports a surge of shattered vehicle windows.

The Turlock Police Department has had more than 20 reports of broken vehicle windows, said police spokesperson Officer Steve Rodrigues.

All the vandalism is believed to have been caused by someone shooting the windows with a BB or pellet gun. All of it is also happened sometime between Friday night and early Saturday morning.

The majority of the vehicles hit were on the east side of Turlock and almost all of them were parked on the street, rather than a driveway.

In one incident an individual was driving in the area of N. Golden State Boulevard and Geer Road Friday night when the rear window of their vehicle was shot out by someone with a BB gun, Rodrigues said.

The damage to the vehicles ranges from $120 to $500 per vehicle, Rodrigues said.

At one location a witness did see a brown pickup truck circa 1985 to 1990 model with a loud exhaust.

The vandalism from Friday and Saturday comes on the heels of at least a dozen other reports of damaged property from someone shooting out vehicle windows in the area of W. Springer Avenue on Thursday.

Anyone who has information about the vandalism is asked to contact the Turlock Police Department at 668-5550.
