Woman struck and killed by train
emergency

The Turlock Police Department is investigating the death of a woman who was struck by a train Friday night.

The death appeared to be a suicide, though the investigation is ongoing.

The name of the deceased has not been released pending next of kin notification.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. Friday along the railroad tracks near Taylor Court, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Parmley.

An employee with Union Pacific Railroad was the one to contact the police department about the collision.

The caller stated the woman was sitting on the railroad tracks as the freight train approached.

Police officers located the woman and she was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she died from her injuries.
