A 32-year-old woman is being investigated for identity theft and fraud after she was caught trying to cash a stolen check.
Gilliam Stephens was arrested Friday afternoon after employees at the West America Bank at 600 E. Main St. called police about a woman trying to cash a check in someone else’s name.
A search of Stephen’s vehicle led to the discovery of 10 grams of methamphetamine and several identification cards, credit cards and checks in other people’s names, according to the Turlock Police Department.
The case was forwarded to detectives for further investigation.
