Individuals interested in serving their local school districts can now file as candidates for governing board positions from through Aug. 7.
Positions are up for election in school districts throughout Stanislaus County, as well as on the Stanislaus County Board of Education, for the Nov. 3, 2026, election.
Candidate filing forms are available through the Stanislaus County Clerk Recorder’s Office, Registration and Elections Department, located at 1021 I St., Suite 101, in Modesto. Completed declarations of candidacy must be filed with the Stanislaus County Superintendent of Schools, in care of the Registration and Elections Department, no later than 5 p.m. on Aug. 7.
Eligible candidates must be registered voters and meet applicable residence requirements.
School Board members help shape district policies, oversee budgets, support student achievement, and shape the future of public education in their communities.
Turlock Unified School District will have three seats up for grabs: Area 2 (Lori Carlson, incumbent), Area 4 (Mary Jackson), and Area 6 (Patrick Sheilds).
In Denair, Board of Trustees President Billy Myers is up for reelection, as is Kathi Dunham-Filson, who was appointed to an open seat in 20225.
Hughson Unified will have three seats contested this fall: Area 2 (Alida Garcia), Area 4 (Randall Heckman), and Area 5 (Mark Foss).
Four-year seats in Keyes — Area 2 (Jimmy Emmons Sr.), Area 3 (Board President Jeff Reed), and Area 5 (Wesley Greene) — are in play.
Chatom Unified board positions for Areas 1, 2, 5 are also up for reelection.
