Larry Boyd was born on December 2, 1939 in Jefferson County, Missouri to Elbert and Hazel Boyd. His family later moved to California and settled in Turlock where Larry graduated from high school. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a machinist both at Pearl Harbor and aboard a destroyer, the USS Sproston. Larry returned to Turlock after the Navy where he met and then married his sweetheart, Joan Smith. Shortly after starting a family, they moved to San Jose, California to begin what became a 35 year career with IBM.

He moved his family back to Turlock in 1976 after purchasing a small walnut orchard where he built their family home. He retired and together he and Joan enjoyed many years and memories with his children and grandchildren until his passing. Larry is survived by his wife Joan; son Steve Boyd; daughter Linda (Craig) Boone; brother Lester Boyd and five grandchildren he adored. He was preceded in death by his brother Allan Boyd.

Funeral service will be held at Allen Mortuary on Thursday, October 22, 2026 at 10:00a.m. Interment will be private.
