Turlock Unified School District Superintendent Sonny DaMarto was named a finalist for the 2013 Superintendent of the Year through the National Association of School Superintendents. DaMarto attended a NASS symposium in Southern California in March where he collaborated and discussed key issues and challenges educators face today.
He was recognized as a finalist for Superintendent of the Year, the NASS noting his “long list of achievements, including remarkable strategic planning, launching a district education foundation, jointly cultivating projects with his county, creating a district music and arts festival, developing energy efficient schools, and much more. “
DaMarto is also the past president of the Association of California School Administrators, the largest umbrella organization for school leaders in the nation, serving more than 14,000 school leaders.
