While many Stanislaus State students are familiar with the city’s north side, Warriors got a chance to discover the south side’s downtown sights and sounds Wednesday thanks to the second annual Warriors Explore Downtown event.

Sophomore Michaela Wade, who is originally from San Francisco, said the event has helped her learn more about Turlock and the fun opportunities that downtown holds.

“We came to this last year, so we were definitely excited to do it again,” she said. “My freshman year, I didn’t even know there was a downtown. I ended up eating at Memo’s and seeing all of the cool places, and I never would have been able to do that if it weren’t for this event.”

The event, a collaborative effort between the City of Turlock, Stanislaus State, Turlock Downtown Property Owners Association and the United States Army, included activities at Central Park and vouchers provided by the university for discounts at participating businesses.
