The California Secretary of State released the certified list of write-in candidates, confirming that Assemblymember Juan Alanis (R-Modesto) is the lone candidate in the 22nd Assembly District for both the primary and general election.
“I am deeply humbled and grateful to the voters of my district,” said Alanis. “In this day and in this divisive political climate, receiving the nod from my constituents to run unopposed for re-election to represent the 22nd Assembly District for a third term is truly an honor.”
During his time in the Assembly, Alanis has passed 19 bills into law, addressing issues ranging from public safety to supporting agriculture and strengthening local communities. In 2026 alone, Alanis has 12 bills still alive and advancing through the legislative process. Additionally, over the last three and a half years, Assemblymember Alanis and his team have brought home millions of dollars to constituents through effective casework with state agencies, helping to secure vital grants and funding, and championing key budget projects that directly benefit families, businesses, and local communities across the district.
“This vote of confidence from the people of Stanislaus and Merced counties is not something I take lightly,” Alanis added. “It reflects the trust our community has placed in me to continue delivering results in Sacramento. I will continue to fight as hard for them as I always have.”
Alanis pledged to continue campaigning despite being unopposed.
“Even though I am running unopposed, I have chosen to continue my campaign through the end of the general election,” he said. “I will keep listening to the voters across the 22nd District, hearing their concerns, and fighting every day for the priorities that matter most to them. My constituents can be assured that I will continue supporting policies that lower the cost of living, protect our kids and communities, and defend the values that define the 22nd District.”
Alanis issued further remarks thanking his supporters, campaign team, and legislative staff:
“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to my incredible supporters, whose dedication and belief in our shared vision have made this possible. To my outstanding campaign team and to every member of my legislative team — thank you for your tireless work, commitment, and service on behalf of the people we are honored to represent. Your efforts make a real difference every single day.”
Running unopposed allows Alanis to secure a vital Central Valley seat for the GOP. He is the only partisan candidate to be unopposed this election year in a district that has more voter registration from the opposition party than his own.
Alvarado-Gil sees three bills move through state senate
State Sen. Marie Alvarado-Gil (R-Jackson) announced today that three of her priority bills have passed the Senate unanimously.
“I am extremely proud that the California Senate has unanimously passed all three of these bills on the same day,” said Alvarado-Gil. “This is a powerful message that rural Californians will no longer be an afterthought.”
- SB 1109 aims to crack down on bad actors operating Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Programs (STRTPs) in small rural counties by requiring annual licensing reviews for facilities with repeated serious safety violations.
- SB 1293 would require Caltrans to provide advance written notice to residents and businesses within five miles of major highway construction projects in counties with 60,000 residents or fewer.
- SB 1382 mandates that Caltrans notify local officials by April 1 each year of its planned schedule for opening mountain passes and developing a public outreach plan.
The three bills now move to the Assembly for consideration.
