“K9 Bravo passed away unexpectedly while at home with his family. It was determined Bravo had suffered an acute medical emergency,” the Turlock Police K9 said in a released statement.

Bravo was partnered with Officer Donna Anthieny on June 15, 2020 and began official duties on Aug. 12, 2020.

Bravo and Ace, the police department’s other K9, represented the department in the K9 Trials this year and Bravo took fifth place in obedience.

Bravo made for an intimidating presence out on patrol but at community events he was one of the police department’s best ambassadors of goodwill, never tiring of the attention.

“Bravo loved his toys, being with his handler and family, giving hugs, and giving affection to those he met. Everyone who met Bravo loved him, and he is going to be missed dearly,” the K9 association said.

Recognizing the role Bravo played in the department, they gave him a dignified send-off on Friday with a procession from Taylor Vet to Family Pet Mortuary.
