A Denair man died from injuries he sustained in a collision on Wednesday in Stevinson.

The deceased was identified as Michael Sousa, 24.

Sousa died from injuries he sustained in a two-car collision on Third Avenue in Stevinson.

Sousa was headed westbound on Third Avenue, while a 1997 Honda Civic, driven by Steven Meza, 21, of Gustine, was on McCullagh Road.
According to the CHP, Meza said he didn't see the vehicle as he entered the intersection and the two cars collided. There is a posted stop sign on McCullagh Road, but not one on Third Avenue.
The impact sent both vehicles spinning off the road and into a metal fence and a power pole. The Honda caught fire, while the Cruze continued to careen off until striking a tree, where it came to a stop.
Meza got out of the vehicle quickly and was not burned from the fire. He was transported to Memorial Medical center for minor injuries.

Sousa was rushed to Doctors Medical Center and later transferred to Memorial Medical Center, where he was placed on life support and later passed away.

Sousa was the owner and operator of Design by Jams, a business specializing in decal and shirt designs.

Sousa was very involved in Portuguese folklore dancing, both as a performer and a director.

Donations toward the cost of the funeral can be made by calling Whitehurst, Norton and Dias at 634-4904 and giving a credit card number. Donors should state it is for Michael S.
