The Turlock Pregnancy and Health Center is inviting the community to “A Fall Fiesta” next weekend where they can brunch, shop and admire the latest autumn fashions — all for a good cause.

The sixth annual Stepping Out for Life Fashion Show is a fun morning of style and food that raises funds for TPHC, which has provided free medical and support services to Turlock and surrounding communities for years. The privately-funded nonprofit decided to begin hosting a fashion show fundraiser in 2014 to not only raise money for the organization, but to also provide a fun event that women can look forward to year after year, according to Executive Director Gena Larson.

“Women enjoy this event because it features women of all ages and sizes — including some of the moms we serve and a couple of our very own volunteers,” Larson said.

In addition to a brunch buffet that annually receives “rave reviews,” fashions on display at the show will include threads from local boutiques like Cindy’s DooDads and Urban Outlaw, and some of the items will be available for sale at the event afterwards. Coupled with a silent auction featuring gift baskets for local donors, the event often makes for a perfect start to holiday shopping for some.

TPHC is hoping to raise $12,000 at the event, which will be poured right back into the community through a variety of free, confidential services like pregnancy testing, STI testing and treatment, ultrasounds, sexual health educational presentations, support for reproductive loss, prenatal classes and new parent mentoring. The organization receives no government funding, so both Larson and the Board of Directors oversee every penny, making sure they’re used in ways that provide maximum benefit to the local community.

“The services offered by TPHC are necessary for our local community as we provide a caring and non-judgmental place for individuals to get the information, education and support they need to be able to make informed decisions for their optimal health,” Larson said.

A Fall Fiesta Stepping Out for Life Fashion Show will take place at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 12 at the Denair Friends Church, 4033 N. Gratton Rd. Tickets for the event are available on the TPHC website, www.turlockphc.com/events, or by calling 209-656-9898. TPHC is also currently selling raffle tickets for a two-night cabin stay donated by Pinecrest Area Rentals. Participants do not need to be present at the event for the raffle, and those who would like to buy a ticket ($10 each) can call the number above.
