TURLOCK — A 43-year-old Modesto man died late Wednesday night following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Crows Landing Road and Fulkerth Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred around 11 p.m. on July 24, when emergency responders arrived to find a 2018 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2008 Jeep Cherokee with major damage, CHP spokesman Tom Olsen said. The motorcyclist was transported to Doctors Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin. No other injuries were reported.
Preliminary findings indicate the Harley Davidson was traveling northbound on Crows Landing Road when the rider made an unsafe left turn across a solid yellow line into the southbound lane, Olsen said. The motorcycle continued traveling the wrong way around traffic and failed to stop at a posted stop sign before entering the intersection.
As the motorcycle entered the intersection, it collided with the front right side of the Jeep Cherokee, which was making a left turn from southbound Crows Landing Road onto eastbound Fulkerth Road. The impact ejected the rider, who struck the asphalt roadway.
Authorities said it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. No traffic delays were reported in the area following the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
