Albert R. Mitzel, 87, passed away at his Turlock home. Albert was born in Eureka, So. Dakota to Jacob and Katie Mitzel. He attended school there and helped on the family farm where they raised beef cattle. In fact, he quit school after completing the 8th grade to help with the family farm. He met the love of his life, DellaMae Zimmerman, while she was working at the soda fountain in the local Rexall Drug. They were married in the Artas (So. Dakota) Baptist Church in the spring of 1949. The family moved to Turlock, CA in 1961. Bud worked for Woody’s Poultry Supply in Livingston for 7 years and then 24 years at International Paper in Turlock. He was a friendly, out-going man who “didn’t know a stranger”.  He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and playing pool with his friends. Bud and DellaMae have been members of the First United Methodist Church of Turlock since 1961.

Mr. Mitzel was preceded in death by his parents, 10 siblings, and 2 sons, Douglas and Bryan Mitzel. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, DellaMae Mitzel, daughter Cindy Mitzel, and granddaughter Shelby Amanda Mitzel of Clarksville, TN. A Memorial Service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Turlock at 1 pm on Monday, Nov. 28th.  Please leave memories and condolences at www.allenmortuary.com. Memorial gifts are suggested for Covenant Care Hospice of Turlock or sent to granddaughter Amanda Mitzel in care of Allen Mortuary
