David Joseph Vasconcellos, 84, of Turlock, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side.
David, or as he was affectionately known as, "Vasky," was the son of Mary and Joseph Vasconcellos, born March 19, 1927, in Turlock. On Sept. 17, 1949, he married Jean Archer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stevinson. They were married over 61 years. David proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and served on the U.S.S. Robert K. Huntington.
Dave was a life-long Turlock resident, and was a businessman/appliance repair man in our community for over 50 years. He founded Vasky's Appliance Service, which survives today with his son, Kevin. Dave was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council #12847, Turlock.
He is survived by children, Coleen (Joe) De Leon, Kevin (Liz) Vasconcellos and Peggy Howard; grandchildren, Thaddeus (Fe), Crystal (Sean), Brendon, Scott, Jacob, Danielle, Carlie and Rachel; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Brian.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, July 1, with the recitation of the Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at Turlock Funeral Home Chapel.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 2 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Turlock, with interment to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
