Duarte Alves Teixeira passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the age of 61. A native of Santo Antão, Topo, São Jorge, Azores, he moved to the US with hisfamily when he was 10 years old. Duarte attended Escalon High School where he loved playing football as a fellow Cougar. After high school he moved to Modesto where he lived a fulfilling life for the past 40years. A devoted Real Estate Broker with All-Star Properties, Duarte became the 2017 Lodi Association of Realtors (LAR) President and a California Association of Realtors (CAR) Director. Among his other passions, Duarte was an avid traveler.The highlight of his travels was attending and volunteering at Burning Man every year. He was the epitome of the Burning Man spirit. Duarte was a lifelong, devout Catholic who lived faithfully, with a strong willingness to help anyone in need. He was always there for his friends and family when the need arose, with a kind and gentle soul. He was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was truly selfless and will be greatly missed.Duarte is survived by his six brothers, Honorio Teixeira, Antonio Teixeira, Leroy Teixeira, Anselmo Teixeira, Manuel Teixeira and James Teixeira; his two sisters, Jesuina Teixeira and Maria Carvalho; along with his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Serafina Teixeira and his brother, Joseph Teixeira.A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1200 Lyons Avenue, Turlock. He will be laid to rest at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock.
