Elias Barajas-Gonzalez of Turlock died Monday in Hughson. He was born in 1926 in Los Desmontes, Michoacan, Mexico. He was a self employed carpenter for 50 years and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Turlock. He was a great carpenter, and enjoyed working with wood. He also liked being out in the countryside and spending every Sunday with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ines Cardenas of Turlock; sons, Gabriel Barajas and his wife, Rocelia, of Modesto, Eulogio Barajas and his wife, Georgina Magana, of Mexico, Emiliano Barajas and his wife, Socorro Ruiz, of Turlock, Jose Luis Barajas and his wife, Maria Elena, of Fontana and Elias Barajas Jr. and his wife, Hilda, of Ceres; daughters, Consepcion Cisneros and her husband, Savino, of Turlock, Socorro Barajas and her husband, Miguel, of Watsonville, Elvia Barajas and her husband, Custodio Valencia, of Mexico, Maria de Jesus Barajas and her husband, Rumaldo Corona, of Turlock, Rosa Celia Barajas and her husband, Uriel Perez, of Turlock, Rebeca Barajas of San Jose and Lourdes Barajas and her husband, Jorge Jeronimo, of Hillsburo; brothers, Jesus Barajas-Gonzalez of Uruapan, Michoacan, Mexico and Trinidad Barajas-Gonzalez of Washington; sister, Felisa Barajas-Gonzalez of Uruapan, Michoacan, Mexico; 62 grandchildren; 85 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Chapel. Rosary/Vigil will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1200 Lyons St., Turlock. A Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, April 29 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.
