Elsie Inga Britta Evans
Elsie Inga Britta Evans

Elsie Inga Britta Evans passed away on May 13, 2018 at the age of 99 with her family by her side in Modesto, CA. She was born March 22, 1919 in Ulrika, Sweden to parents Carl and Anna Alfrida Andersson. They immigrated to the States the following year and began farming in Turlock, CA. Elsie attended Turlock grade school and graduated from Turlock Union High School, class of 1938. She worked for more than 20 years for Doctors Medical Center in the Dietary Department.

Elsie loved to embroider, do crossword puzzles, and cook for her family. She was famous for her zucchini bread, Swedish pancakes, potato salad and her insatiable urge to fatten her family. Despite their win-loss record, she was dedicated to the San Francisco Giants and never missed a game. She was humble, kind and a striking beauty both inside and out. She was loved by many and doted on by all those who met her including neighbors, mail carriers, and grocers; she was everyone’s Grandma.

Elsie leaves behind her children Gary Evans (Sylvia) of Idaho, Robert Evans of Monterey, Dennis Evans of San Francisco, and Sally Cran of Modesto. Grandchildren include Kim Bohlman, Natalie Bohlman-Burke (James), Cindy Evans, Ryan Evans, Stuart Cran, Hazel Cran, and Shelly Evans. Great-Grandchildren Kelsey Kayan (Denis), Daysha Torres, and Iris Bohlman-Burke. Great-Great-Grandchildren include Anna Kayan, Sophia Kayan, Kymmi Torres, and Rebecca Kayan. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Elsie’s name to Community Hospice Memorial Fund at 4638 Spyres Way Modesto, CA 95356 where she received compassionate care and left this life with dignity.
