Evan was born in Modesto on April 21, 1992.  A 2010 graduate of Denair High School, Evan played soccer, basketball, football and ran track. 

A natural born leader, Evan had charisma, ambition and a great ability to connect with people.   In the past month, Evan had been inspired to become an ag teacher — a career choice that would surely have allowed this young man to express his skills and continue to inspire others with his zest for exploring life.

Evan’s favorite quote is from Michael Jordan:"I can accept failure; everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying."

Evan was preceded in death by his father, Chris Sousa; and his maternal grandparents, Glen and Martha Vergara.

Evan leaves behind his mother and father, Allison and Dave Sutton; his two brothers, Brenden and Zackery Sousa; grandparents, Joe and Jessie Sousa and Jan Sutton; long-time girlfriend, Ana; beloved uncle, aunts, cousins and friends; and his new puppy, Moose.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 at Turlock Funeral Home. Graveside service to follow.
